Al Ahly’s football first team managed to secure an important 2-1 win tonight against ENPPI SC in a game postponed from Matchday 15 of the Egyptian Premier League.
Ali Maaloul saved the day by scoring two goals in the last two minutes of the match to gift us three precious points which will help us in our title race.
First Half
The first half started with frontline pressure from our players, as we were trying to score the early opener.
ENPPI’s players tried to depend on counterattacks, but our defenders managed to block their attempts and kept them away from our net.
Our players controlled the game’s tempo, as our midfielders exchanged the ball to find a chance to score.
Our first moment came as Salah Mohsen blasted a strong header, but he missed the net and the ball went over the bar.
Our players kept pushing forward to score, but ENPPI’s defenders stood their ground and managed to block all our attempts.
We had another dangerous chance, as Mohsen received a brilliant long pass inside the box. Our striker tried to convert the ball into the back of the net with a one-touch finish, but unfortunately, he missed the net.
We kept pushing to break the deadlock, but the referee blew his halftime whistle to announce a goalless draw at the break.
Second Half
The Red Eagles started the second half with great pressure, as our players were keen to score the first goal in the game.
In the 55th minute, Afsha sent a through pass to Mohamed Sherif, but our striker’s shot went to a goal kick.
Ahmed Abdelkader joined the pitch in the 61st minute instead of Salah Mohsen, as Pitso Mosimane wanted to add more attacking power.
Against the game flow, ENPPI managed to take the lead in the 75th minute when Moustafa Shalaby converted ENPPI’s free-kick into the net.
The Red Eagles kept pushing forward to equalize the score, but our attempts were blocked by ENPPI’s defenders.
Mosimane used his bench once again as Percy Tau, Hossam Hassan, and Ziad Tarek joined the game instead of Taher Mohamed, Mohamed Sherif, and Karim Fouad.
In the 95th minute, Ali Maaloul managed to equalize the score. Maaloul tried his luck and blasted a screamer to make it 1-1.
Two minutes later, Maaloul was in the right place to score the winner. Abdelkader dribbled past ENPPI’s defender and sent a brilliant ground cross from the right flank. With a first-time shot, Maaloul converted the ball into the back of the net to gift us three precious points.
